For our final project I worked with Level Design, Cinematics and Worldbuilding. The story takes place on four islands, floating in space. Our main character Sally has been kidnapped by extraterrestrials and placed in a fever dream like alien zoo, as part of the human exhibition, inspired by 50’s aesthetic and alien technology. The player’s goal is to escape the islands and the alien guards.
Narrative is a big part of the game, my goal was for the player to experience it through environment, storytelling, dialog and cinematics.
On Display, The Zoo:
Through dialog and set dressing, the player lives through their first experience of the game story. The goal was to show the narrative in a subtle way that would intrigue the player to move forward.
On Display, The Boulevard:
This scene’s main goal was to capture the aliens’ misinterpreted view of the way humans lived during the 50’s. Food chains and clothing stores are not quite what it seems.
On Display, The Amusement Park:
This is where the fun comes to die, not a single rollercoaster is recommended to ride. The goal in this scene was to make sure the player had mastered their skills and would now have to put them to use. The open spaces are meant for exploring and combat.
On Display, Military Island:
An intense combat scene to make the player feel powerful, until they meet their fate. This island is only surrounded by alien technology, the strange technology and enormous buildings sets the tone for everything as inhuman and alien.
